Barry Latzer

American criminologist and emeritus professor of criminal justice who taught at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Before his academic career he worked as a prosecutor in the Brooklyn District Attorney's office and as a criminal defense attorney. He is known for his research on state constitutional criminal procedure and capital punishment, and he has written several books on violent crime in the United States, including The Rise and Fall of Violent Crime in America.
