Henry Lee

Henry Chang-Yu Lee (1938 to 2026) was a forensic scientist and biochemist, born in China and later a naturalized citizen of the United States, who became one of the most widely recognized criminalists of his generation. He served as Connecticut's chief criminalist and as director of the state police forensic laboratory from 1978 to 2000, later holding the title of chief emeritus, and he founded the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science, affiliated with the University of New Haven, to train forensic scientists. Lee examined physical evidence in numerous high-profile American criminal investigations, including the O.J. Simpson trial, the JonBenet Ramsey case, and the September 11 attacks, and became a widely cited public authority on forensic evidence analysis and crime scene reconstruction.
