Park Dietz

Park Elliott Dietz is an American forensic psychiatrist who has consulted or testified in a large number of high-profile American criminal cases involving serial killers, mass murderers and other significant defendants. His courtroom work has included the trial of John Hinckley Jr. for the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan and the trial of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, among numerous other cases in which courts and prosecutors have sought his clinical assessment of a defendant's mental state and dangerousness. Dietz later founded a private forensic psychiatry and threat assessment consulting practice, extending his expertise beyond the courtroom into evaluating and advising on the risk of workplace and public violence. His decades of casework have made him one of the most frequently cited forensic psychiatrists in American criminal proceedings.
