Occupational Crime

Fraud, Deception and Corruption Offenses

Occupational crime is crime committed through opportunities created in the course of a legitimate occupation, encompassing thefts of company property, vandalism, misuse of information, and similar activities carried out for individual financial gain or to avoid financial loss. The concept, one of the principal forms of white-collar crime, became widely used following Clinard and Quinney's Criminal Behavior Systems: A Typology, though the term has since also been applied more loosely to activities such as occupational deviance and workplace crime that fall outside its original narrower meaning.

Has Offense Grade

Entity-backed identity for the offense-grade enum value this offense already carries, resolved to a crime concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The offense-grade fact itself stays on the offense unchanged.
