Political corruption is the use of power by government officials, or by their network of contacts, for illegitimate private gain. It takes many forms, including bribery, lobbying abuse, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, influence peddling, graft, and embezzlement, and it can facilitate other criminal enterprise such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and human trafficking, although it is not limited to those activities.
