Frank J. Wilson

Frank John Wilson was an American law enforcement administrator who worked as a special agent for the Bureau of Internal Revenue's Intelligence Unit before serving as the eleventh Chief of the United States Secret Service from 1936 to 1947. He led the exhaustive Treasury Department investigation into Al Capone's finances, spending years examining ledgers and financial records until he found gambling account entries tied to Capone that established his unreported taxable income, evidence that led to Capone's 1931 conviction for tax evasion and an eleven year prison sentence. Wilson also assisted in the Lindbergh kidnapping investigation and, as Secret Service chief, helped modernize presidential protection practices.
