Christopher Stone (professor)

Christopher Stone is an American criminal justice expert who became professor of practice of public integrity at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford. He founded the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, was one of three founding directors of the New York State Capital Defender Office, and led the Vera Institute of Justice as president and director. He later served as Guggenheim Professor of Criminal Justice at Harvard Kennedy School and as president of the Open Society Foundations from 2012 to 2017, and was awarded an OBE in 2006 for his contributions to criminal justice reform in the United Kingdom.
