Paul Tappan

American criminologist and legal scholar who served as Professor of Law and Criminology at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law from 1962 until his death in 1964. He held a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and law degrees from New York University and Columbia University. He chaired the United States Board of Parole from 1953 to 1954 and was active in international criminology, serving as United States National Reporter to the Third International Congress of Criminology.
