National police forces and federal investigative agencies of the states of continental Europe, which are mostly organised under an interior ministry and sometimes combine civil and military policing. Examples are the German Bundeskriminalamt, the Polizia di Stato of Italy and the Guardia Civil of Spain. An institution belongs here when it is a national or federal police or investigative agency of a continental European state. It excludes the Commonwealth agencies and the historic founding forces, which have their own groups.
