Subordinate compelling surrender is an offense under Article 100 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. It covers a person subject to military law who compels or attempts to compel the commander of a place, vessel, aircraft, other military property, or body of service members to surrender it to an enemy or abandon it, or who strikes the colors or flag to an enemy without proper authority. The offense may be punished by death or another punishment a court-martial directs.
