A war of aggression, sometimes called a war of choice, is a military conflict waged without the justification of self-defense, often pursued for territorial gain or subjugation as a war of conquest. It stands in contrast to the concepts of a just war or a war of necessity, and is recognized in international law as one of the core crimes against peace.
