Official Misconduct

Offenses committed by a person while holding public office or judicial authority, consisting of the abuse, corruption or dereliction of that office rather than a wrong any private person could equally commit. The group covers malfeasance in office, judicial misconduct, and conduct by a commissioned officer unbecoming of that rank. Belongs here: an offense that can only be committed by virtue of holding a public or judicial office, and that consists of abusing or degrading that office. Does not belong here: a private person impersonation of an official, held under Administration of Justice Offenses, since the wrongdoer there holds no real office to abuse.
