Crime and Justice Atlas
Things this atlas does not know. Each entry is a question that specialists
have posed and not settled, recorded with what would actually resolve it and which
expertise the answer needs.
These are kept deliberately, rather than quietly omitted. An atlas that shows
only what it is sure of implies a confidence it has not earned, and the gaps are often where
the interesting work is. Several sit exactly where two fields fail to meet: identifying the
hyssop of the Hebrew Bible needs a botanist and a philologist of Biblical Hebrew, and neither
one settles it alone.
Grouped by the expertise recorded on each question, in the words the question itself uses. Most of these are held by a single question.

Theosophy
What is the combined current worldwide membership across the several rival Theosophical Societies descended from the 1875 founding?
Open Theosophy
Why It Is Open The original Theosophical Society split after Blavatsky's death, chiefly into the Adyar based Theosophical Society and the Pasadena based Theosophical Society founded by William Quan Judge, and each rival body keeps and reports its own membership rolls without any shared or independently audited combined count.
What Would Settle It A single count published jointly, or independently compiled from each Society's own reported rolls with a stated methodology and date, across the Adyar, Pasadena and any other surviving Theosophical bodies.
Expertise Needed Sociology of religion
Question posed in
The Theosophical Enlightenment, Joscelyn Godwin.

Angel Prayers Oracle Cards
Who illustrated Kyle Gray's Angel Prayers Oracle Cards?
Open Angel Prayers Oracle Cards
Why It Is Open No illustrator is credited on the creator's own product page, the publisher's listing, or any retailer listing checked. Kyle Gray's later decks in this registry, credited to a named illustrator, make the silence here look like an omission rather than a genuinely uncredited work, but that could not be confirmed either way.
What Would Settle It The deck's own guidebook or box, examined directly, or a publisher catalogue record naming the illustrator.
Expertise Needed Publishing history
Question posed in
Angel Prayers Oracle Cards (astrologyandangelmediums.com review, citing Hay House edition), Kyle Gray.
Angel Therapy Oracle Cards
Which artist or artists illustrated Doreen Virtue's Angel Therapy Oracle Cards?
Open Angel Therapy Oracle Cards
Why It Is Open Multiple independent reviews describe this deck's artwork as compiled from several different artists rather than one credited illustrator, and no source checked, the publisher's own listing or Aeclectic Tarot's review among them, names any of the contributors for this specific title.
What Would Settle It The deck's own guidebook, examined directly, since compiled-artwork Hay House oracle decks typically credit each contributor inside the booklet even when retailer listings do not.
Expertise Needed Publishing history
Question posed in
Angel Therapy Oracle Cards, A 44-Card Deck and Guidebook (Amazon listing), Doreen Virtue.
Archangel Oracle Cards
Which artist or artists illustrated Doreen Virtue's Archangel Oracle Cards?
Open Archangel Oracle Cards
Why It Is Open Multiple independent reviews describe this deck's artwork as compiled from several different artists rather than one credited illustrator, and Aeclectic Tarot's own review, read directly, describes the card layout without naming an artist. No source checked names a contributor for this specific title.
What Would Settle It The deck's own guidebook, examined directly, since compiled-artwork Hay House oracle decks typically credit each contributor inside the booklet even when retailer listings do not.
Expertise Needed Publishing history
Question posed in
Archangel Oracle Cards, A 45 Card Deck and Guidebook (Amazon listing), Doreen Virtue.
Ascended Masters Oracle Cards
Which artist or artists illustrated Doreen Virtue's Ascended Masters Oracle Cards?
Open Ascended Masters Oracle Cards
Why It Is Open Aggregated web listings attach several painters' names to this deck, but none of the pages actually read, the publisher's own listing, Goodreads, and Aeclectic Tarot's review, states a name directly, so the claim could not be traced to a citable page and is left unresolved rather than repeated from an aggregation.
What Would Settle It The deck's own guidebook, examined directly, which is understood to list contributor credits even where retailer and review pages do not.
Expertise Needed Publishing history
Question posed in
Ascended Masters Oracle Cards, 44-Card Deck and Guidebook (AbeBooks listing), Doreen Virtue.
Flower of Life
Who illustrated the imagery in Denise Jarvie's Flower of Life, Wisdom of Astar deck?
Open Flower of Life
Why It Is Open No illustrator is credited on the publisher's page or any retailer listing checked. The deck prints its interpretive text directly on the back of each card rather than in a separate guidebook, so creator Denise Jarvie may be the sole author of both image and text, but that could not be verified to certainty.
What Would Settle It The deck's own packaging or a publisher catalogue record, examined directly, stating whether the imagery is Jarvie's own work or a separate illustrator's.
Expertise Needed Publishing history
Question posed in
The Flower of Life, Wisdom of Astar Oracle Deck (Amazon listing), Denise Jarvie.
Numerology Guidance Cards
Who illustrated Michelle Buchanan's Numerology Guidance Cards?
Open Numerology Guidance Cards
Why It Is Open No illustrator is credited on the publisher's listing or any retailer listing checked. The deck's imagery is mostly numbers, colors and named geometric symbols rather than figurative art, so a separate illustrator credit may genuinely not exist, but that could not be confirmed either way.
What Would Settle It The deck's own guidebook or box, examined directly, or a publisher catalogue record naming a designer or illustrator if one exists.
Expertise Needed Publishing history
Question posed in
Numerology Guidance Cards, A 44-Card Deck (Penguin Random House listing), Michelle Buchanan.
Crusading history, medieval military history. 5
Second Crusade
What Was the Total Death Toll of the Second Crusade?
Open Second Crusade
Why It Is Open The Second Crusade was fought as three largely separate campaigns under one crusading call, the failed siege of Damascus in the Levant, the Wendish Crusade in the Baltic, and the successful siege of Lisbon in Iberia, and the scholarship treats each on its own terms rather than as one war with one casualty count.
What Would Settle It A historian's synthesis totaling documented losses across all three theaters, or separate, clearly bounded figures for each campaign presented together rather than as isolated episodes.
Expertise Needed Crusading history, medieval military history.
Question posed in
God's War: A New History of the Crusades, Christopher Tyerman.
Fifth Crusade
What Was the Total Death Toll of the Fifth Crusade?
Open Fifth Crusade
Why It Is Open The Fifth Crusade's losses are recorded in narrative form, the long siege of Damietta and the crusader army's destruction during its retreat up the flooded Nile, but no historian has converted those narratives into a bounded casualty estimate for the campaign.
What Would Settle It A military historian's accounting of losses at Damietta and during the Nile retreat combined into one campaign total, or a demographic study of Ayyubid Egypt's war losses in the period.
Expertise Needed Crusading history, medieval military history.
Question posed in
God's War: A New History of the Crusades, Christopher Tyerman.
Sixth Crusade
What Was the Total Death Toll of the Sixth Crusade?
Open Sixth Crusade
Why It Is Open The Sixth Crusade is remembered as a diplomatic success, Jerusalem recovered by treaty rather than conquest, and the scholarship reflects that emphasis: the campaign's limited fighting is described in narrative terms with no casualty figures attached, let alone a combined total.
What Would Settle It A military historian's accounting of the skirmishes and garrison actions that did occur during Frederick II's campaign, however small the resulting figure.
Expertise Needed Crusading history, medieval military history.
Question posed in
God's War: A New History of the Crusades, Christopher Tyerman.
Seventh Crusade
What Was the Total Death Toll of the Seventh Crusade?
Open Seventh Crusade
Why It Is Open The Seventh Crusade's defining battle at Mansurah and the surrender of Louis IX's army afterward are described in detail by the eyewitness chronicler Jean de Joinville and by the historians who follow him, but none converts that narrative into a bounded total across combat losses, disease and the army's captivity.
What Would Settle It A military historian's combined accounting of Mansurah's battle deaths, the army's losses to disease in the Nile Delta, and deaths among those held captive afterward.
Expertise Needed Crusading history, medieval military history.
Question posed in
God's War: A New History of the Crusades, Christopher Tyerman.
Ninth Crusade
What Was the Total Death Toll of the Ninth Crusade?
Open Ninth Crusade
Why It Is Open The Ninth Crusade is the smallest of the numbered Crusades in the scholarship, a short campaign by the future Edward I remembered chiefly for its limited raids rather than pitched battles, and none of those actions carries a recorded casualty figure to build a total from.
What Would Settle It A military historian's identification of casualty figures, however small, for the raids and skirmishes of Edward's 1271 to 1272 campaign.
Expertise Needed Crusading history, medieval military history.
Question posed in
God's War: A New History of the Crusades, Christopher Tyerman.

Numerology Guidance Cards
Does the guidebook for Michelle Buchanan's Numerology Guidance Cards offer reversed card meanings?
Open Numerology Guidance Cards
Why It Is Open No review checked, including the publisher's own product page, states whether the guidebook offers a reversed meaning for its numeric and symbolic cards. Reviewers describe reversal as left up to the reader's own approach, with no official guidance found stated either way.
What Would Settle It The deck's own guidebook, examined directly for a stated position on reversed cards.
Expertise Needed Deck design and cartomancy practice
Question posed in
Numerology Guidance Cards, A 44-Card Deck (Penguin Random House listing), Michelle Buchanan.
Sacred Geometry Activations Oracle
Does LON's guidebook for the Sacred Geometry Activations Oracle offer reversed card meanings?
Open Sacred Geometry Activations Oracle
Why It Is Open No review checked states whether the guidebook offers a reversed meaning alongside its stated Activations. A similarly named deck by a different creator, Francene Hart's Sacred Geometry Oracle Deck, is recorded elsewhere in this registry as offering reversed meanings for non-symmetrical cards, and the two are easily confused, but they are not the same deck and this one's own practice was not found stated anywhere.
What Would Settle It The deck's own 160-page guidebook by LON, examined directly for a stated position on reversed cards.
Expertise Needed Deck design and cartomancy practice
Question posed in
Sacred Geometry Activations Oracle (Blue Angel Publishing product page), LON.
The Crystal Wisdom Healing Oracle
Does Judy Hall's guidebook for the Crystal Wisdom Healing Oracle offer reversed card meanings?
Open The Crystal Wisdom Healing Oracle
Why It Is Open An independent review's own deck-data table records the card backs as reversible, but no review checked, including one that engages closely with the guidebook's own structure of Vibration groupings, states whether the guidebook itself offers a distinct reversed meaning for any card. A reversible back alone does not settle the question.
What Would Settle It The deck's own 119-page guidebook by Judy Hall, examined directly for a stated position on reversed cards.
Expertise Needed Deck design and cartomancy practice
Question posed in
Deck Review: The Crystal Wisdom Healing Oracle (Tarot Elements), Tarot Elements.

Does the guidebook for Patsy Bennett's Zodiac Reading Cards offer reversed card meanings?

Chen
What does the element sihoom mean in Iksihoom, the Classic name for this month?
Open Chen
Why It Is Open In the Classic inscriptions this month is written as a colour term joined to a second element read as sihoom. The colour term is secure. The second element is left untranslated, so the literal sense of the month name cannot be recovered from the inscriptions, and the storm gloss that circulates for it comes from the post-conquest Yucatec name instead.
What Would Settle It A collation of every spelling of the sign group across the Classic corpus, with its substitution sets and phonetic complements, set against the Colonial-period Yucatec and Cholan dictionaries, to test whether sihoom has a surviving lexical match.
Expertise Needed Maya epigraphy, with Mayan historical linguistics.
