Policing strategies are concepts about how police work. Community policing is a philosophy that aims to improve cooperation between police and the communities they serve, and has three key components, community partnerships, a problem-solving approach to public safety issues, and organizational transformation to support them. Problem-oriented policing gives agencies an analytic method of problem identification, analysis, response and assessment to prevent and reduce crime and disorder. Community-oriented policing relies heavily on community involvement and police presence, and the two approaches differ in the intensity of their focus and the diversity of their approaches.
