Hilde Kaufmann (1920 to 1981) was a German jurist and criminologist whose research focused on orienting the discipline of criminology toward the practical needs of criminal science and criminal justice. She worked at the intersection of law and criminology during a period when few women held prominent positions in either field in Germany. Kaufmann's scholarship helped shape how criminology was understood as a discipline serving the justice system directly rather than existing as a purely theoretical pursuit. She died in Cologne in 1981.
