Shlomo Giora Shoham is an Israeli criminologist who built much of the discipline's institutional base in Israel, establishing the Institute of Criminology at Bar-Ilan University and later founding Tel Aviv University's Department of Criminology. His scholarship developed a personality-centered theory of crime and deviance and what he called a micro-macro theory of criminology connecting individual behavior to broad social and historical phenomena, explored in books including The Mark of Cain and Valhalla, Calvary and Auschwitz. In 2003 he became one of the first two criminologists awarded the Israel Prize.
