Nottingham Knockers are aggressive door to door salesmen who sell goods at inflated prices to vulnerable people, and who are also believed to work as scouts for later burglaries. They often claim to be ex-convicts on a rehabilitation scheme and carry identification cards meant to support that claim, and although the practice appears to have started in Nottingham, it has since been reported in numerous other locations across the United Kingdom.
