Environmental Crime in General

Environmental crime in general is the category of harm to the natural environment treated as crime, as distinct from any single offense. INTERPOL says it has become a lucrative avenue for transnational organized crime, spanning wildlife trafficking, illegal logging, illegal mining, pollution crime and fisheries-related crime, with criminal networks exploiting natural resources across several countries and continents. These crimes are frequently linked to corruption, fraud and money laundering, so tackling them protects natural resources and also disrupts the networks that threaten security, governance and the rule of law worldwide.
