Offenses that name the unlawful killing of one person by another, from the general category of homicide to murder in its degrees and the planning of a killing. An offense belongs here when its definition turns on a person intentionally or with extreme recklessness causing the death of another, or on an attempt, conspiracy, solicitation or hire to bring that death about. It excludes the lesser grade of manslaughter and killings defined by who the victim is, which sit in their own groups.
