Offenses in which a person causes a death without the intent and malice that make a killing murder, including voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, deaths caused by criminal negligence, and deaths caused by vehicles or by companies. An offense belongs here when the definition rests on provocation, recklessness or negligence rather than a plan to kill. It excludes murder proper and the killing of family members, which have their own groups.
