Gang Rape

Gang rape is the rape of a single victim by two or more perpetrators, also referred to in criminological literature as serial gang rape, party rape, group rape or multiple perpetrator rape. It tends to be more violent on average than rape by a single perpetrator, producing more severe sexual and non-sexual injuries, and is almost always premeditated, with perpetrators typically younger and more often repeat offenders than individual rapists, and greater rates of drug and alcohol involvement. A 2013 study found that gang rapes made up between ten and twenty percent of all rapes reported in the United States and Europe, though fewer than one in three gang rapes are reported to authorities at all.
