Juice Jacking

Juice jacking is a theoretical form of compromise against smartphones, tablets and other devices that use the same cable for charging and data transfer, typically USB, in which an attacker uses a compromised charging port or cable either to install malware on the device or to surreptitiously copy sensitive data from it. Researchers have demonstrated such charging-port attacks under controlled laboratory conditions, but as of May 2023 multiple reviews had found no credible reported real-world cases of juice jacking outside of research settings, and security experts generally assess the risk to typical users as low relative to other threats.
