Patent Infringement

Property Offenses Without Violence

Patent infringement is the unauthorized making, using, offering for sale, selling, or importing of a product or process protected by a granted patent, carried out without the patent holder's permission, which is normally granted through a license. What counts as infringing depends on the claims defined in the specific granted patent, and the exact legal definition of infringement varies by jurisdiction. Because patent rights are territorial, an act can infringe a patent in one country while remaining entirely lawful in another where no equivalent patent is registered and in force. Has Offense Grade

Entity-backed identity for the offense-grade enum value this offense already carries, resolved to a crime concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The offense-grade fact itself stays on the offense unchanged.
