Street Racing

Street racing is an illegal form of motor racing conducted on public roads, in which drivers engage in speed contests or other high-performance driving outside the regulation and safety controls of sanctioned motorsport. Races may be spontaneous or organized in advance, with participants and spectators often coordinating meeting points and sharing information about road conditions and police activity through phones, messaging apps, or radio. The practice carries a heightened risk of collisions causing serious injury or death to participants, passengers, and bystanders, and in many jurisdictions the term also covers related illegal activities such as drifting and burnouts, distinguishing it from the legal, sanctioned sport of drag racing.
