The National Forensic Sciences University is a public university in India dedicated exclusively to forensic science, investigative science and criminology, originally established as the Gujarat Forensic Science University on 11 February 2009 and elevated to national status as an Institution of National Importance on 1 October 2020 under India's Ministry of Home Affairs. Its main campus is located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and it has since expanded to nine campuses across India along with an international campus established in Uganda in 2023. Operating under the motto Education through Investigation, the university is dedicated solely to training students and researchers in forensic and investigative disciplines rather than offering forensic science as one program among many at a broader institution. Its scale and national institutional status make it a significant training and research center for forensic science not only within India but, through its international campuses, in the wider region as well.
